Description

We are adding a full-time Veterinary Assistant to our team! As a technician-oriented practice, we utilize our nursing staff to their fullest potential- giving you the opportunity to use your hard-earned skills. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Effective communication with both clients & team
• Safe handling & restraint of animals
• Obtain vitals & medical history
• Venipuncture
• Place intravenous catheters
• Administer medications SQ & IV
• Administer & monitor anesthesia
• Surgical assistance
• Dental prophylaxis
• Bandaging
• Laboratory testing & radiography

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

• High school diploma or GED required
• Must have at least 1 year experience as a Veterinary Assistant
• Must be a bright, friendly, and effective communicator in order to communicate with clients, visitors, veterinarians, and other hospital staff. (It's okay if you talk to animals, too!)
• Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and move freely for extended periods of time
• Must be able to lift 50 squirming pounds
• Must be able to work in a veterinary environment with exposure to infection or contagious diseases
