ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Emergency Veterinarian, you will see an average of 10–15 new emergency cases per day while overseeing the care of hospitalized patients. You’ll work closely with a highly skilled support team to rapidly assess, stabilize, and treat urgent and life-threatening conditions. You’ll also build and maintain strong professional relationships with referring veterinarians, ensuring seamless communication and continuity of care
CONSISTENT CONSECUTIVE SCHEDULE
Three overnight shifts per week at our Garden Grove location.
- Sundays: 8:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
- Mondays and Tuesdays: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
- Rotating major holidays
COMPENSATION
- $200,000 annual minimum guaranteed base salary
- 20% production on revenue generated above base
- Our current full-time doctors earn over $300,000 per year with production pay
- Total compensation range: $200,000 – $350,000+ annually
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Diagnose and treat urgent and life-threatening conditions in dogs and cats.
- Perform emergency surgeries, including:
- Laceration, bite wound, and abscess repair.
- Pyometra, C-section, and foreign body removal.
- Splenectomy, GDV correction, and more.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic tools: digital radiography with 24/7 board-certified consultants, IDEXX in-house lab suite, and point-of-care ultrasound (F.A.S.T.)
- Complete thorough and timely medical records during your shift.
- Provide leadership and direction to your support team during cases.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with referring veterinarians and pet families.
QUALIFICATIONS
- DVM/VMD degree and current California veterinary license required.
- Proficiency in emergency surgeries for dogs and cats.
- Competence in basic endoscopy (foreign body retrieval) and F.A.S.T. ultrasound preferred.
- Strong decision-making skills under pressure.
- Excellent communication and team leadership abilities.
- Ability to speak Spanish or Vietnamese is a plus.
